Official Competition Rules
1. Overview
FilmFaster48 is a curated short film festival and industry platform focused on discovering bold voices and connecting filmmakers with real opportunities.
This is more than a challenge — it’s a pipeline to real industry access. All winners receive trophies, recognition, and the chance to be part of a fully funded feature film alongside name talent and studio professionals.
2. Eligibility
- Open to filmmakers worldwide
- Participants must be 18 years or older
- All experience levels welcome
- Entry fee and registration must be completed before kickoff
3. Registration
- Teams must register through the official Film Faster 48 website www.filmfaster48.com or filmfreeway.com/filmfaster48
- One Team Leader must be designated
- Teams may be any size, but only one film per team
- Entry fees are non-refundable
- All cast and crew must be volunteers
4. Timeframe
- All films must be submitted by 12am PST September 19, 2026
- Late submissions will not be accepted or judged
5. Film Length
Final film must be between 4 and 10 minutes, including credits
7. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
- File format: MP4, MOV, or AVI
- Minimum resolution: 1920x1080 (HD)
- Frame rate: 24 or 30 fps
- Clear, well-mixed audio required
- Submissions via official upload portal or designated link
- Must add “Made for Film Faster 48 Festival” alongside our logo to credits
8. CONTENT GUIDELINES
- Films must be original and created within the 48-hour window
- No unlicensed or copyrighted material
- Must be appropriate for a PG-13 audience or lower
- No hate speech, pornography, or excessive gore
9. SCREENING & EXPOSURE
All eligible submissions receive:
- Live screening at the official festival event
- Industry professional review with feedback/notes
- Placement on the Film Faster 48 Festival YouTube channel
- Feature in the festival brochure (digital & print)
- Access to the live awards show (additional guest tickets sold separately)
10. Awards & Prizes
TOP PRIZE = Producer credit on New Republic Pictures film

BONUS:

- THE GRAND PRIZE
All 1st Place winners from each Film Faster 48 Festival will be invited to co-create a feature film, produced by Providence Film Group in association with New Republic Pictures, following the end of the festival circuit.
Winners will:
• Work alongside industry professionals & name talent
• Receive industry-standard pay
• Be awarded appropriate screen credit
• Hold equity in the final film
• Be part of a film developed for theatrical or streaming release
13. COPYRIGHT & RIGHTS
- Teams retain full ownership of their films
- By submitting, teams grant Film Faster 48 Festival a non-exclusive license to screen, showcase, and promote the film across official festival channels
14. DISQUALIFICATION
- Late submission
- Failure to include all required elements
- Use of pre-existing or plagiarized content
- Violation of any production or content rules
- Endangerment of cast and crew or harm to any animals
- Endangerment of cast and crew or harm to any animals
- Previewing or distributing film prior to festival date
Important Final Terms
• All decisions by judges and organizers are final
• Festival organizers reserve the right to update rules or disqualify entries at their discretion
• Participation constitutes acceptance of all rules and conditions
• Films will be judged prior to the event and only a handful of registrant films will be chosen to be screened
• Teams retain full ownership of their films
